What people use it for
- 01Plan direct mail and door drops at the level postal services actually price on.
- 02Cut territories finer than district when a city is dense.
- 03Join against census, income or property data, most of which is published by postal code.
- 04Cluster a route so a rep's day is not spent driving.
What it will not tell you
Formats differ enormously between countries, and some codes cover a single building while others cover a whole town. Never assume equal area.
Questions about this field
- Is the format consistent across countries?
- No. Codes arrive in local format — digits, letters or both — since rewriting them would break the postal systems that consume them.
- Can I filter a scrape to one postal code?
- Run the search, then filter this column. Searches are area-based, so postal-level targeting is a post-export step.
