1284
What people use it for
- 01Weight the rating so a 5.0 from three reviews does not outrank a 4.5 from two thousand.
- 02Find the loudest competitors in a category and city.
- 03Identify businesses with strong service but no review volume — a well-defined reputation pitch.
- 04Estimate relative footfall within a single category, where review rates are broadly comparable.
What it will not tell you
Review counts compare poorly across categories. Restaurants collect reviews at a rate a law firm never will, so only benchmark inside one category.
Questions about this field
- Is review count a proxy for revenue?
- Loosely, and only within one category and city. Across categories the collection rates differ too much for the comparison to hold.
- Does it include reviews without text?
- It is the total the listing displays, which includes ratings left without a written review.
